Dear parents,
I am very excited to have your child in my class this year. I plan on having a great year. We can help your child have a successful year by keeping an open line of communication. There are several ways for us to do this listed below.
I have high expectations for my students, both behaviorally and academically. I expect my students to follow class norms (rules), procedures and routines. I will use a CIBS discipline plan (see school handbook). With proper behavior, the classroom will have an atmosphere where learning can take place. After all, learning is our number one reason for being at school.
Social Studies and study skills are the subjects I consider to be my strengths in teaching, along with ELA. Therefore, besides Social Studies classes, I will be teaching strategies to make learning easier, such as how to study and take tests along with supporting them in reading and writing skills. These skills are ones that will be useful throughout one’s education. To accomplish this, there will be some practice (homework) some evenings. The students will be given time in class each day to start assignments, but what is not completed in class will be practice to finish at home. They may also need to spend time reading or studying over notes.
I want to keep an open line of communication with you. Feel free to contact me through email at [email protected] or jot a note in your child’s planner. You can also reach me on my plan period,(2:13-3:00) at (816)882-1041 ext. 1142.
